What 10 MB actually holds
10 MB is about 80 megabits. Divide by the clip length and you have the total bitrate for video and audio together.

Fast motion eats bitrate, which is why gameplay suffers first.
Resolution is a setting, use it
At a starved bitrate, 720p looks better than 1080p. Fewer pixels get more bits each, so edges stay clean instead of smearing.
Kovert lets you set the output resolution next to the size target. For a minute-long clip at 10 MB, 720p is usually the right call.
Questions
- What are the Nitro limits?
- Nitro Basic uploads up to 50 MB and full Nitro up to 500 MB, as of 2026. Type either number as the target and the same two-pass encode applies.
- Why not just lower the resolution?
- Resolution alone does not set the file size, bitrate does. A 480p clip at a high bitrate can still miss 10 MB. Target the size directly, then set the resolution to match the budget.
- Does the audio count against the 10 MB?
- Yes, video and audio share the same budget. At normal audio quality that is roughly a tenth of a one-minute clip, one more reason to trim.
- Can I split a long video instead?
- Yes, Kovert can split a video into parts. For anything over a couple of minutes that beats compressing it into mud.
- Is it free?
